William Blake serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the defining the integrated infrastructure that will drive Cray’s next generation of supercomputers and solutions. Mr. Blake joined Cray in April 2012 and served on its Board of Directors from June 2006 to June 2012. Mr. Blake has been involved in the high performance computing industry for three decades. Until January 2011, he served as General Manager of Parallel Computing Platforms in Microsoft Corporation’s technical computing group. Prior to its acquisition by Microsoft, Mr. Blake was President and Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Supercomputing, Inc. which developed and sold an interactive parallel computing platform that extended existing desktop simulation tools for parallel computing on a spectrum of computing architectures. Before assuming this position in January 2007, he served as Senior Vice President, Product Development of Netezza Corporation, which develops, markets and sells data warehouse appliances. Prior, he held key management positions with Compaq Computer Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Blake is a former member of the board of directors of TotalView Technologies, Inc., Terascala, Inc., Cluster File Systems, Inc., and Unlimited Scale, Inc. and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery. He received a B.S.E.E. from the Lowell Technological Institute.
